Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Fatal Car Crash

The British boxer Anthony Joshua has been released from care, local government spokespeople announced on late Wednesday. The fighter was involved in a car accident near Lagos on Monday, a devastating event that claimed the lives of two of his team members.

Healing from Light Wounds

Joshua had been receiving medical attention while healing from his light wounds, his management team had said on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on X that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to continue his recovery at home.

“Anthony and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two departed friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the official remarked.

Honoring the Deceased

The victims of the crash were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. The official further stated that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and deeply emotional over the loss of his two dear friends.”

This update on his health arrives after the global fight fans shared condolences for the champion in the wake of the terrible crash.
