'Living a Nightmare': Loved Ones of Unaccounted For Young People Desperately Seek News After Ski Resort Fire
The loved ones of teenagers missing after a devastating inferno at a venue in a Switzerland's winter destination are enduring an excruciating period of uncertainty for confirmed information and requesting clues about their family members online.
The blaze devastated the Le Constellation bar in Cans-Montana, located in the Swiss Alps of south-west Switzerland, in the middle of the night of January 1st. Circulated images depict the ceiling catching alight as beverages with fireworks are held aloft.
Emergency services have stated that it could take days if not weeks to formally name the fatalities of the tragedy, which killed 40 people and hurt another scores more. Authorities noted on Friday that 113 of the injured have been accounted for, with work continuing to identify the final individuals.
In the waiting period, relatives have been taking to online platforms to plead for any news about their friends who were present at the venue that evening.
Appeals for the Missing
The location of Swiss national Arthur Brodard, a teenager, are still unconfirmed, according to an public plea from his family.
The resident of Lutry near Lausanne, told a local newspaper that she had gone back to the city to check whether he was in the hospital, while his father did the same in the capital, but did not locate him.
"This is a living nightmare, a horror. The options are finding my son in the hospital mortuary, or I find him in intensive care. Words cannot describe it," she said.
She added that some of his companions had been found with burns covering nearly half their bodies. "It's unspeakable; they endured an absolute nightmare."
The Italian foreign ministry has indicated that six of its young people have not been located.
One of those is Emanuele Galeppini, a teenage sportsman, originally from Genoa but now residing in Dubai.
The Italian Golf Federation has released a tribute that he is deceased, without mentioning the tragedy, paying tribute to a "talented young man who represented dedication and true sportsmanship."
His parent, reportedly stated that his son was at the bar and was last heard from around the new year. An official spokesperson has stated that a official announcement of his death is not yet.
Other Missing Individuals
Giovanni Tamburi, 16, is likewise unaccounted for. His parent said that he had been on vacation but had gone out with a group and ended up at the venue.
"A companion said they escaped after the fire erupted and that he had his mobile with him, but then at a certain point he they were separated," she explained, adding he had been wearing a identifiable gold chain.
One of his educators commented, "He was known for his kindness and smile, coupled with great maturity. He would frequently offer to help out."

Her sibling has posted an appeal online, saying the family has had "no news" regarding the teenager or the group she was with, who are also unaccounted for.
Officials from her other nation say they are continuing to monitor the situation.
