Clair Obscur Triumphs at the 2025 Golden Joystick Awards
The 43rd yearly Golden Joystick Awards took place recently, and through an impressive performance, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 claimed the title of the biggest winner. The standout role-playing game from Sandfall Interactive earned the prestigious Top Game award, along with prizes for Outstanding Narrative and Top Visual Design.
Adding to the studio's achievements, its skilled performers also received personal awards. Jennifer English received Best Lead Performer for her performance as Maelle, while Ben Starr won Supporting Performance Award for his role as Verso. Moreover, Sandfall Interactive itself received Best Development Team. Overall, Clair Obscur and its makers collected seven awards throughout the ceremony.
Other major winners included Ghost of Yōtei, which was awarded Best Audio Design and Console Game of the Year, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, honored with Top Self-Published Indie and PC Game of the Year. It is important to note, the bulk of Golden Joystick Awards are selected by the gamers, with only 4 categories—Critics' Pick, Breakthrough Award, Lifetime Achievement, and Streamers' Favorite—determined by critics.
